K-1 / K-2 Visa Timeline

When in PH - So we said goodbye to emails and Viber for a while. Jon visited the Philippines for 2 weeks, while I took my time off at work. It was the best vacation ever!

 

March 24, 2017 - We got engaged! Jon asked my hand and my parent's blessing. And they said YES, too!

- Jon and I began the process by sending our payment to Filipina Fiance Visa Service to begin our K1/K2 process.

 

April 8, 2017 - Signed the packet. (You can find and download the I-129F form here: https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f. Instructions are also included).

April 10, 2017 - Sent all necessary documents to Jon through the mail (DHL).

April 13, 2017 - Jon received the packet I sent.

April 14, 2017 - Petition submitted to USCIS (I-129F) .

April 17, 2017 - USCIS received the packet Jon sent.

April 20, 2017 - USCIS Acceptance Confirmation. Our case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS California Service Center. 

April 24, 2017 - Jon received the hard copy of our NOA1. (We keep track of our case status by installing an app in the Google Play Store called USCIS Case Status).

June 16, 2017 - 60th day of our NOA1.

July 16, 2017 - 90th day of our NOA1.

July 26, 2017 - 100th day of our NOA1.

 

August 28, 2017 - NOA2 Approved after 133 days of waiting. (No RFE)

September 1, 2017 - Hard copy of NOA2.

Our case is on its way to NVC!

September 12, 2017 - Called NVC to check on the status and they gave us our MCN over the phone!

September 13, 2017 - Case Status is AT NVC.

September 15, 2017 - Case Status is Ready.

 

(You can check your case status through this website: Visa Status Check. Once you have your MCN status Ready, you can then register for your medical exam at St. Luke's Medical Center (SLEC near US Embassy) via this link: St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic and make sure you have your MCN handy).

 

September 21, 2017 - Online Medical Registration at SLEC

September 25, 2017 - CFO seminar. You can register through this website: Commission on Filipino Overseas

October 4, 2017 - Flew to Manila for Medical Examination.

October 5 & 6, 2017 - Medical Examination at St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic.

October 12, 2017 - VISA APPROVED!

November 11, 2017 - Flight to Ohio, USA

November 24, 2017 - Wedding Day! 

AOS Timeline

November 11, 2017 - Hit US soil for the first time!

November 15, 2017 - Filed for our Marriage License at Knox County Common Pleas Court, Mt. Vernon Ohio.

November 24, 2017 - WEDDING DAY! (Yaaaay! May forever talaga!)

November 27, 2017 - Got our Marriage License number.

November 28, 2017 - Began the process by sending our payment to Filipina Fiance Visa Service for our Adjustment of Status.

January 20, 2018 - Sent our packet (AOS, EAD, AP) to Department of Homeland Security through USPS.

January 22, 2018 - Case Was Received

January 29, 2018 - Our Fingerprint Fee Was Received

January 30, 2018 - USCIS Acceptance Confirmation. Our case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center.

February 4, 2018 - Received our NOA1 hard copy.

February 8, 2018 - Our K1 visa expiry date

February 9, 2018 - Received our Biometrics Appointment letter in the mail.

February 22, 2018 - Biometrics Appointment at 9:00 am

March 7, 2018 - Name Was Updated (on Gab's first name)

March 22, 2018 - 60th day of our NOA1.

April 21, 2018 - 90th day of our NOA1.

 

--- Fast forward to 169 days ---

July 11, 2018 - Marked our 8th-month in the US, and we also (finally!) received an update about our applications.

 

Sarah's EAD - Request for Initial Evidence

Gab's EAD - New Card is Being Produced

July 16, 2018 - Received my RFE letter in the mail, and we also received Gab's EAD and AP letter notifying us that they have approved the application.

 

July 16, 2018 - Gab's EAD: Card Was Mailed To Me

July 17, 2018 - Post Office picked up mail containing your new card.

July 18, 2018 - Card Was Picked Up By The United States Postal Service

July 19, 2018 - Received Gab's  Combo card (EAD and AP card).

July 20, 2018 - Received SSN for Work Only  Valid With DHS Authorization.

--- After 184 days ---

July 26, 2018 - Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview.

August 7, 2018 - Interview Was Scheduled.

August 13, 2018 - Received our interview letter (notice) in the mail.

August 22, 2018 - Mailed the request for RFE back to our Service Center.

August 24, 2018 - Mail was delivered. 

August 28, 2018 - The MSC received our response to their RFE.

 

--- Finally after 224 days ---

 

August 29, 2018 - EAD and AP approved.

September 4, 2018 - Received our  EAD and AP approval letters.

September 5, 2018 - Card Was Mailed To Me

September 6, 2018 - Card Was Picked Up By The United States Postal Service

September 8, 2018 - Received my Combo card (EAD and AP card -- 228 days)

September 10, 2018Received SSN for Work Only  Valid With DHS Authorization.

September 20, 2018 - Interview date. Green card approved!!! Yeeey, God is sooooo good all the time!

September 20, 2018 - New Card Is Being Produced. (Our case status on the app changed 15 minutes after our interview).

 

--- Our total duration of the AOS application, 240 days ---

From the date we submitted our application to the approval date.

 

September 24, 2018 - Received our Approval Notice letter for our green card.

September 25, 2018 - Card Was Picked Up By The United States Postal Service.

September 27, 2018 - Card Was Delivered To Me By The Post Office. Finally!!!!

February 27, 2019 - Sent in our Report of Marriage to the Philippine Embassy and Consulates - Chicago

March 4, 2019 - Registered in the civil registry records of the Consular Section of the Philippine Embassy/Consulate in Chicago.

May 1, 2019 - Renewed my Philippine passport at the Consulate General of the Philippines in Chicago, Illinois.
